Drum Pedal
Get foot on the pedal...
When we talk about bass drum pedals, there are countless options. Ranging from a very simple single pedal with chain drive to a chrome double pedal with direct drive or nylon drive.
Fundamentally, there are two types of bass drum pedals - normal single pedals, which are the most common, and double pedals that simulate having two bass drums. Some may have a 'longboard', meaning that the actual plate you place your foot on is longer, which allows some to play faster. As mentioned above, there is also a difference in how energy is transferred from the foot to the beater. The original method, which is still seen on many pedals, is a chain drive - sometimes with two chains. The disadvantage here can be that the pedal doesn’t return as quickly, so if you want to play very fast, your foot technique may be 'faster' than the pedal. Therefore, some manufacturers have developed pedals with 'direct drive', which is a drum pedal where the energy transfer is directly connected between the footplate and the beater.
And now that we are on the beater... there are also many variations here. The classic has a felt head and is round, but there are also beaters with wood, plastic, and rubber heads. Each material has different sound characteristics, and in that way, you can adjust a lot on your drum pedal to get it just as you want.
It can also be a good idea to check if there is a base plate on the pedal. On some pedals, the footplate is only secured with a bracket, while on more expensive models, it is attached to a plate under the pedal - this provides better stability and makes it easier to use good foot technique. No matter what you choose, we have a wide selection from the biggest brands like Tama, Yamaha, Pearl and DW, so you can get the bass drum pedal that suits you.
