When you play a 35" electric bass, “standard” bass strings are often either too short or end up tapering in the wrong place – which leaves you dealing with poor fit, unstable intonation and an E string that just doesn’t feel quite right. Ernie Ball 2849 Super/Extra Long Scale Hybrid Slinky is made for exactly that challenge: a balanced 45-105 set that gives you that comfortable, fast feel on the higher strings and a solid, punchy low end that stays focused in the mix.
The nickel-plated steel winding delivers the classic Slinky sound: clear attack, defined mids and a low end that stays tight without getting muddy. The roundwound surface feels lively and responsive under your fingers, and the hex-core steel core provides a tighter tension with stable tuning and precise intonation when you dig in with fingers or a pick.
The fit is designed for long instruments: string length of 127 cm and taper at 97.8 cm, so the set sits correctly on a 35" scale length (88.9 cm) and plays cleanly all the way up the fretboard. It’s the obvious choice if you want the Slinky feel and familiar quality in a set that actually matches your super long scale bass.
