For both classic and modern rock, the human feel of real drums is absolutely critical. Small variations in timing, dynamic nuances in each drum hit, and the natural resonance that spills into open microphones—all of these elements define the classic rock sound that fans still love. Icon Drums Classic Rock was created to capture every part of that unmistakable live drum vibe—without ever feeling sterile or robotic.

Unlike many drum libraries that isolate each hit so precisely it feels lifeless, Icon Drums Classic Rock uses bleed to reintroduce the organic sense of space and interaction between the drums.

To achieve this, we sampled not only multiple velocity layers and round robins, but also the natural reflections of a well-tuned kit in a classic studio environment, capturing the exact way each drum resonates across different microphones. This means every note you play is nuanced and feels truly “alive,” as if you were in the room with a real drummer behind a vintage kit.

Every part of Icon Drums Classic Rock can be adjusted, so you can take the raw drums we’ve designed and make them perfect for your music.

You don’t need any additional plugins, as Icon comes with a complete mixer. Each channel has EQ, compression, a transient designer and saturation. We even made sure to include reverb.

No corners were cut in the creation of Icon Drums Classic Rock. In addition to choosing top-tier drums, we made sure to use the industry-standard microphones and mic pres you’d expect from a serious drum recording.

We also captured the famous Glyn Johns overhead microphone technique to achieve that classic, cohesive kit sound. You can hear this technique on many of the projects he worked on, from The Kinks and The Who to Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones.

Plus, you can load your own Kick or Snare one-shot samples directly into Icon to get the most out of your drum sound. We’ve even included plenty of processed one-shots right inside Icon for you to choose from.

Finally, Icon Drums Classic Rock will work great with your electronic drum kit, and if you need to make any adjustments, MIDI remapping is quick and easy.

Icon Classic Rock takes realism to a whole new level. No other drum library gives you full drum kit bleed on ALL microphones.

What does full drum kit bleed mean?

For example, other virtual drum libraries out there do NOT give you the sound of snare or kick hits that “bleed” into, or are picked up by, all the other mics on the kit, such as the tom mics or hi-hat mics. They do this to significantly reduce the size of the sample library and also to make it easier to run on older computers.

But think about it for a moment. That’s not how real drums are recorded and mixed when you’re doing it properly in a studio. This is a big part of why people sometimes say programmed drums don’t sound real. The mic bleed that would naturally be there is missing. And we give you full control to add as much or as little of it as you want across the entire kit.

On top of that, Icon Classic Rock has an absurd number of dynamic layers, meaning your ghost notes and rimshots will actually bring dynamic nuance into your music. Also, so many round robins that even the fastest drum parts sound natural and varied.

Loads of musical articulations that are genuinely useful, so you can create realistic hi-hat patterns, snare rudiments and more.

Fully featured built-in mixer

Sometimes you’re just in the moment, your creative juices are flowing, and the slightest distraction can ruin it all… we made sure ICON had everything you needed right there, so you can focus on your music instead of loading a bunch of extra plugins.

The built-in mixer lets you adjust individual drum elements—such as kick, snare, toms, and cymbals—directly within the plugin or software interface. This streamlines your workflow by eliminating the need to route each drum to separate channels in your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

Each channel has a built-in channel strip that includes:

• Two EQ types (Digital and Analog)
• Saturation
• 1176-style compression
• Transient designer
• ADSR controls
• Two reverb sends (Non-Linear or Plate)

However, there’s also a “Master” section on this new built-in mixer page, where you can give your drums the final polish they need. Included here:

• Pultec-style EQ
• SSL-style bus compression (with a parallel mix knob!)
