Video meeting – Live from the living room...
Streaming, online concerts and podcasts have never been more popular. At the same time, more and more people have discovered the possibilities of holding meetings and similar events online via various services such as Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, Facetime and the like. At the same time, it is incredibly easy to test and get started, as most modern phones and computers have a built-in camera and microphone. However, many quickly find out that it’s great to have proper sound if you’re going to use the technology seriously. On this page you’ll find a selection of bundles tailored for streaming, podcasts and online meetings.
Online meeting and online conference
With modern streaming services, it has become possible to hold online meetings and conferences, and with the right equipment, everyone can even have good sound and a good picture. Good sound is essential when several people need to talk together online – especially when it goes on for a longer time. If the sound is poor, it’s difficult to understand each other, and it also becomes tiring for the ears to listen to over time. You can either choose a solution with headphones with a built-in headset microphone, or you can use a separate microphone. In any case, it is necessary that all participants in the online meeting wear headphones in order to hear each other.
It can seem like a bigger investment if there are many participants, but with the time you save on travel, the cost can quickly pay for itself – online meetings and conferences are often also more efficient than physical meetings. With an online meeting / online conference bundle, you get all the equipment you need for a single participant, and then you simply choose a platform – whether that’s Google Meet, Skype, Zoom or something else.
Work at home
If you work from home and need to hold online meetings with your colleagues, take a look at our online meeting bundles, where you get exactly the equipment you need to meet your colleagues in cyberspace. Sound is essential here, as you quickly get tired in your head and ears if you talk for a longer time with poor sound. In fact, it can be much more comfortable than a phone call, as the sound in phones is rarely good – and it can never compare to a dedicated studio microphone. You can imagine that the voice of the person you’re talking to becomes just as clear as the sound of a radio host. In several of our streaming bundles, you’ll find professional radio and broadcast microphones, so you can get the best possible sound.
Skype is very popular for simple online meetings, but you can also achieve good results with Google Meet, Google Hangout, Zoom or even Facetime!
Podcast and streaming
If you have googled “how do I stream” or “how do I make a podcast”, you’ve come to the right place. When you work with podcasts and audio, your sound is just as important as your content. As a listener, it can be really difficult to ‘listen through’ poor sound. With a podcast bundle, you get a professional setup that you can set up at home and get started easily without having to struggle with the tech. Whether you stream to Twitch, Youtube, Facebook or something else is not crucial. All the major streaming services can take audio from an external Audio Interfaces or an external USB microphone, so if you can get the sound into the computer, you can also stream it.
Parts of an online meeting setup
If you’re not used to working with audio on a computer, it can feel overwhelming to dive into. Because what actually is an external audio interface? Here we go through the individual components that a streaming setup can consist of. However, you may not need all the individual components – it depends a lot on what needs you/you have for your online communication.
Audio Interfaces/audio interface:
An external Audio Interfaces is the link between analog audio and the computer. In a standard audio interface there will usually be 3 things: microphone preamps (to amplify the microphone signal), an AD/DA converter to convert the analog signal into a digital signal, and a monitor section where you can control your speakers and headphones. The Audio Interfaces can be designed either as a box or as a small mixer with faders. If you want to be able to control which sound you send out intuitively, it may be best with a mixer, but basically they do the same thing.
Microphones:
It almost goes without saying – the microphone picks up your voice, so a good meeting microphone is important. There are basically two types of microphones: condensers and dynamic. Both microphones can be used for online meetings and streaming, and they have different advantages and disadvantages. A condenser picks up a lot of sound, so for example you can easily have the microphone standing on your desk with 30-40cm to your mouth. However, this can also become a disadvantage if you are in a noisy environment with other people, road noise from outside or similar. Conversely, a dynamic microphone mainly picks up what is in front of it. That means you need to have it right in front of your mouth to capture enough sound. Therefore, a dynamic microphone also needs to be on a stand so you can position it correctly. On the other hand, it is less sensitive to noise from your surroundings.
Headphones/monitors:
If you’re holding a meeting, of course you also need to be able to hear the people you’re talking to, and if you’re streaming live, it’s great to be able to hear the sound you’re sending out, so you can be sure everything sounds good. With headphones, you ensure that as little as possible of the sound you hear gets into the microphone – on the other hand, not everyone is a fan of the headphone look. With a pair of studio monitors, you get the sound out into the room, which is useful if, for example, you have recorded a podcast and want to hear the result, or you can use them as monitors if you’re streaming yourself and a guitar. However, it can cause problems if there are several of you talking together, as it will create echo for the different participants when their voice is played out into the room and picked up by the microphone at the other participants.
