When tasting wine, it’s important that a comparison is as neutral as possible. The same applies when choosing speakers.To assess sound characteristics accurately, it’s essential to listen to different speakers under the same conditions.
Convenient speaker routing with variable level control for uncompromising in-store comparisons, as well as multi-monitor and multiroom applications, are just some of the ways GrandAudition MK2 can be used effectively.
GrandAudition MKII lets you connect 16 individual speakers or eight speaker pairs, as well as up to eight subwoofers – all via balanced XLR line connections and housed in two 19" rack units. Depending on how you want to use GrandAudition MK2, the outputs can be selected either individually or as stereo pairs via an intuitive browser-based app or directly on the unit.
This means you can simply switch between speakers or freely configure any output combination you want, making it not only the ideal solution for speaker demonstrations, but also an excellent choice as a central control unit for trade shows, in laboratories, and for multiroom audio distribution.
Source material is fed in from a mixer, CD player or digital audio workstation via two balanced XLR inputs – of course with volume control. But that’s not all. GrandAudition MKII is also equipped with a built-in USB media player, from which reference tracks can be accessed in the data formats WAV, AIF, FLAC, MP3 and OGG.
Highlight of GrandAudition MKIIThe browser-based remote control can be operated from a tablet or laptop and offers maximum ease of use. Ethernet- and WLAN-compatible devices can be used for full configuration and control of the unit, including channel naming, the media player and other practical functions.
The ability to adjust the level of each output individually and its fast, noiseless switching mechanism make it possible to compare speakers precisely and help you reliably guide your customers to choose the right speaker. Routing applications that use different levels for each output can also be set up, and a fully analogue signal path of the highest quality is, of course, also guaranteed with Palmer.
If required, you can cascade units to triple the impressive count of 16 channels plus 8 outputs, allowing you to handle even the largest routing scenarios for monitors, for example in presentation areas. You can also use the subwoofer outputs to connect additional speakers without experiencing any technical disadvantages.
In addition to active speakers, passive speakers can be integrated using power amplifiers. Signals can also be distributed across several line outputs for other applications, for example by connecting up to 24 headphone amplifiers to a single source signal – an invaluable aid in conference technology and at trade shows. And as the icing on the cake, GrandAudition MKII also performs remarkably well in measurement laboratories.
In short, with its clearly arranged functions and ease of use, GrandAudition MKII offers convenient speaker routing with professional sonic neutrality.
