Description
Are you looking to capture a clean guitar, bass or electric piano signal with all its brilliance and without any tonal changes? An active DI box offers the best solution – as long as it has the same high build quality as Palmer havel. havel’s low-noise active circuitry provides a higher input impedance than a passive DI box. This means your instrument’s sound is captured without any loss of treble or bass. High input impedance is particularly important when used with the magnetic pickups found in electric guitars, electric basses and electromechanical electric pianos (e.g. Rhodes), as well as with (passive) piezo pickups for acoustic instruments. Palmer havel is also ideally suited to synthesizers and other electronic keyboards, as it offers sufficient headroom to handle even high-level signals without unwanted distortion.
Palmer havel of course has a THRU output to pass the input signal on to the instrument amplifier. With 30 dB pre-attenuation engaged, Palmer havel can also be inserted between the amplifier’s output and the speaker if you want to include the sound of the amplifier rather than the “raw” instrument signal.
The balanced, low-impedance output signal from Palmer havel is resistant to interference, enabling long cable runs without any loss of sound quality. Thanks to the built-in transformer, the XLR output is galvanically isolated. Any ground loops that may occur can easily be eliminated by pressing the ground lift switch. For power, you can use 48V phantom power or a standard 9V battery.
