If you want to record a clean guitar, bass or electric piano signal with all its brilliance and without any tonal change – including stereo sources or two instruments at the same time – the Palmer inn active DI box provides the ideal solution. Its low-noise active circuitry enables a higher input impedance than a passive DI box. This means the sound of your instruments is captured without any loss of treble or bass. High input impedance is especially important when used with the magnetic pickups in electric guitar, electric bass and electromechanical electric pianos (e.g. Rhodes), as well as with (passive) piezo pickups for acoustic instruments. The Palmer inn is also extremely well suited for synthesizers and other electronic keyboards, as it also offers sufficient headroom to handle strong signals without unwanted distortion. In addition, the inn is two-channel, which means it can process stereo signals or two instruments simultaneously.

Of course, the Palmer inn has a THRU output to pass the input signal on to the instrument amplifier. With the 30 dB pre-attenuation activated, the Palmer inn can also optionally be inserted between the amplifier’s output and the speaker cabinet if you also want to record the amp’s tonal shaping instead of the “raw” instrument signal. A particularly practical feature is that – in addition to the individual outputs for both channels – it also has a summed output with the signal from both channels. This saves mixer channels.

The balanced, low-impedance output signals from the Palmer inn are resistant to interference, enabling long cable runs without loss of audio quality. Thanks to the integrated transformer, the XLR outputs are galvanically isolated and have individual Ground Lift switches to easily eliminate hum caused by ground loops. Power can be supplied via 48 V phantom power or a standard power supply (9-24 V).
