Line 6 - world-class guitar technology!
Guitar amps, modelling processors, interfaces and relays may not be quite as “sexy” as a gorgeous Yamaha electric guitar. But these products from Line 6 might be the exception. If nothing else, an electric guitar on its own without the right gear is a bit like a bodybuilder on helium—sexy until he starts talking.
Line 6 has long been the front-runner in recording, amplification and modelling of electric guitars—and for good reason. With the world’s first digital modelling amp, AxSys 212, Line 6 revolutionised the industry in 1996 and raised the standard to new heights.
In the decades after their initial success, they haven’t rested on their laurels. In 2015, the company launched their new Helix guitar processor series, which once again set new standards for the guitar processor. With the Helix series, Line 6 created a processor that—despite its compact size—delivers responsive, authentic guitar tones with a wealth of simple, adjustable parameters. With HX modelling technology, Line 6 has managed to pack a wide range of sound presets into a compact solution. With the newly updated Helix 3.0 firmware, the Helix series includes no less than the following number of presets: 86 amps/effects, 41 cabinets and 16 mic simulations. So why pack 5 guitars and an arsenal of gear into your band van when you can have just as much nuance in your backpack?
But without the right speaker system, you won’t get very far with modelling. Line 6’s Powercab series is specifically designed for use with guitar modelling. Your amp/speakers are responsible for at least half of the sound—and for how your modelling feels—so they should be considered too!
