SALES DESCRIPTION Ernie Ball Earthwood Phosphor Bronze 2143 is a 6-string acoustic steel-string set for those who want a warm, rounded, harmonically rich tone without losing clarity in picking and chords. The phosphor bronze winding delivers a more “mellow” character than classic 80/20 bronze, giving your guitar more body and a more musical, balanced top end – perfect for both strumming and fingerstyle.
The set is built for stable intonation and a consistent feel: tin-plated high-carbon plain steel treble strings provide a clear response, while the bass strings feature a phosphor bronze wrap on a hex-shaped, tin-plated steel core for a solid grip, focus and projection. The traditional roundwound winding feels classic under the fingers and delivers good articulation, but as with most non-coated roundwounds you may experience a bit more finger noise, especially when the strings are brand new.
The Custom Medium gauges strike a strong balance between playability and extra volume: you get more projection and “push” than with a light set, but the tension can feel stiffer and be more demanding for bends and long sessions. The gauges range from 0.30 mm to 1.37 mm, making this set ideal if you want an all-round set with a bit more fullness in the sound; also be aware that the tone typically changes after break-in from very bright to more subdued and warm.
