Ernie Ball 2212 Primo Slinky is a complete string set for 6-string electric guitar, made for players who want the “best of both worlds”: easier bends and a more supple lead feel than a 10–46 set, but with more body, control and a tighter low end than classic 9–42. The result is a more balanced tension, where rhythm playing and palm mutes feel more stable, without the top strings becoming stiff when you do vibrato and bends.

The tone is the familiar nickel-plated steel roundwound sound: clear, bright and snappy in attack, yet still versatile enough for everything from clean chords to crunchy rock and modern high gain. The construction is built for a consistent Slinky feel and stable intonation once the strings are properly stretched in: tin-plated high-carbon steel on the plain strings, plus a robust hex-core with nickel-plated steel winding on the wound strings, delivers a direct response and a “tight” feel under the pick.

The set fits standard electric guitars with ball ends and is ideal if you usually find yourself wavering between 9s and 10s. Gauges range from 0.024 cm to 0.112 cm, giving you a noticeable bit more low end without losing flexibility on top. Please note that changing string gauge may require small adjustments to intonation, truss rod and possibly tremolo balance, depending on your setup. As the strings are uncoated, you’ll typically get a fresh, open tone at first, but you should expect more frequent string changes than with coated strings—especially if you play a lot or have sweaty hands.
