Ernie Ball Mammoth Slinky is an extra-heavy string set for electric guitar, made for players who use very low tunings such as B standard, drop A and similar. The heavy bass strings provide higher tension, so your riffs feel tighter, more controlled and far less “floppy” – especially when you really dig into palm mutes and down-tuned breakdowns.

The nickel-plated steel winding delivers a balanced tone with a relatively bright, clear attack plus enough warmth and “body” to keep the guitar big and full in the mix. The hex-core high-carbon steel construction provides more stable tuning, better durability and more consistent intonation, while tin-plating on the core and plain strings helps resist corrosion and keeps the set fresh for longer.

This set is ideal for heavy rhythm and riff playing where definition and firmness in the low end matter more than easy bends. Note that it can feel very stiff at higher tunings, and the extra-thick bass strings often require a setup: you may need to widen the nut slots and adjust the truss rod and intonation when switching from a lighter set. Gauges range from .012” to .062”, which corresponds to approx. 0.30–1.57 mm.
