Ernie Ball 2225 Extra Slinky is a 6-string electric guitar set in an extra-light gauge, made for players who want minimal resistance under their fingers. The low tension makes bends, vibrato and fast lead runs noticeably easier, and you get a “slinky” feel that responds quickly to a light touch – perfect when playability and speed are the top priority.

The wound strings are built with nickel-plated steel wrap on a hex core, delivering that classic clear, bright electric guitar tone with a snappy attack and balanced response. The plain strings are tin-plated high-carbon steel for extra strength, stability and better intonation, and the entire set is made to tight tolerances, so the feel is more consistent from pack to pack. The strings also come in sealed, corrosion-resistant packaging within the series, helping them stay fresher until you install them.

The set fits a standard 6-string electric guitar in regular length, and the gauges are 0,20 mm, 0,28 mm, 0,36 mm, 0,56 mm (wound), 0,76 mm and 0,97 mm. Please note that such a thin set can feel more “floppy” and be more sensitive to a heavy picking attack, meaning the pitch can be pulled sharp or flat more easily, and you may experience less fullness and sustain than with, for example, 9–42 or 10–46. If you’re switching down from thicker strings, it may also require a setup (intonation, truss rod and possibly the nut), because the lower tension changes the guitar’s balance.
