Ernie Ball Burly Slinky 2226 is a hybrid/heavy gauge set (11–52) that gives you a noticeably fuller sound and more tension than lighter Slinky sets – without making the plain strings unusably stiff. The result is a more immediate response, with power chords sitting bigger in the mix, and a firm, controlled feel when you play hard with a pick.

The classic nickel wound construction delivers a clear, defined attack with the familiar, balanced “Slinky” feel under your fingers. The wound strings are made with nickel-plated steel wrap around a tin-plated hex core for stability and consistent feel, while the plain strings are made from specially tempered tin-plated high carbon steel, so bends and vibrato still feel precise. Inside, the strings are protected in moisture-resistant, sealed packaging that helps keep them fresh before fitting.

This set is especially suited if you want more tightness on the bass side for lower tunings and drop tunings, or if you play aggressively and want better control and tuning stability after a short break-in/stretch. Gauges range from 0.028 cm to 0.132 cm (0.28–1.32 mm). Please note that moving from, for example, 9–42 or 10–46 to 11–52 can feel significantly stiffer and may require a setup (truss rod, intonation and possibly adjustment of the nut slots). As uncoated strings, they can also lose “brightness” faster and be more sensitive to rust/corrosion depending on sweat, climate and maintenance.
