Ernie Ball 2236 is a medium-gauge 12-string electric guitar string set, made for the iconic 12-string “chime”: the clear, ringing top end and the wide, choir-like fullness that makes open chords sound bigger and more alive. The 11–52 gauge delivers a balanced tone with more body and a calmer attack than ultra-light sets, so you get both sparkle and a solid foundation without the sound turning thin.
Here you get roundwound strings with nickel winding, delivering a bright yet balanced electric guitar tone with clear string separation and a pleasant “snap” in the attack. The wound strings are built on a tin-plated, hex-shaped steel core, providing a firm response, stable tuning and a more controlled feel under the pick. The wound G string is a clear advantage on a 12-string: it helps intonation, keeps the midrange more disciplined, and gives a more predictable feel when you play chords higher up the fretboard.
The set is for 12-string electric guitar and is perfect if you want the classic 12-string shimmer for jangle, pop, rock and big soundscapes, while still being able to play cleanly and accurately.
