Ernie Ball 2238 RPS Extra Slinky is an electric guitar string set made for players who want ultra-easy bends and fewer string changes on the plain strings. The RPS reinforcement at the ball end helps minimise slippage and reduce breakage at the classic failure point on plain strings, so you can play tougher bends and vibrato with more confidence and better tuning stability.

Tonally, you get the familiar “nickel wound” character: the wound roundwound strings in nickel-plated steel (NPS) deliver a clear attack, strong definition and the smooth, fast Slinky feel under your fingers. The plain strings are plain steel, and the patented RPS solution uses an extra brass/bronze reinforcement around the lock twist at the ball end to make the end more robust, without changing the direct, uncoated response.

The set is a very light 8–38 (0,20–0,97 mm), and it’s perfect for players who want low string tension, fast lead playing and extremely easy bends. Note that such a thin gauge can sound less full and be more sensitive to a hard pick attack and intonation than, for example, 9–42 or 10–46. The strings are not coated, so you get the classic “uncoated” feel and attack, and the sealed packaging helps keep them fresh until opened.
