Ernie Ball 2248 Stainless Steel Super Slinky is a 6-string electric guitar set made for players who want a bright, cutting and extra “crisp” tone with clear string separation. The stainless steel wrap boosts attack and definition, so riffs sit razor-sharp in the mix, and single notes get more bite – especially when you play rock/metal or high-gain, where clarity and output make the difference.

At the core is a hex-shaped steel core (tin-plated), which provides a stable, consistent feel under the fingers as well as clear intonation, even when you play hard. The wound strings are roundwound with stainless steel wrap wire, and the plain strings are high-carbon steel, giving you a responsive set that reacts quickly to picking and dynamics. The bonus is that stainless steel typically resists corrosion/oxidation better than many standard nickel-wound sets – a big advantage if you have sweaty hands, play often, or want that “new string” snap for longer.

The set is Super Slinky light gauge 9–42, which means lower tension and faster playability with easier bends. Gauges are .009/.011/.016/.024/.032/.042 (0,23/0,28/0,41/0,61/0,81/1,07 mm). The sound is distinctly bright; on already bright guitars or amps it can come across as sharp/“icy”, and you may hear a bit more finger and slide noise than with nickel-wound. Some players also find it slightly rougher/stiffer than nickel Super Slinky, so if you want maximum smoothness rather than maximum top end, it’s worth keeping in mind.
