Ernie Ball 2620 Power Slinky for 7-string is made for those who want more resistance in the picking hand, more stable intonation, and a low end that stays tight when you tune down. The gauge combination delivers firmer tension than lighter sets, so riffs feel punchy and palm mutes hit harder – especially around B standard and down to drop A.

The tone is big and balanced: deep lows with control, punchy mids and clear, chiming highs. The wound strings are roundwound with a nickel-plated steel wrap around a tin-plated, hex-shaped steel core, giving a defined attack, solid sustain and a stable, predictable feel under heavy playing. The plain strings are made from specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel, so you get consistent response and the classic Slinky feel without a coating that changes the grip.

The set fits standard scale 7-string electric guitars and is ideal for metal and hard rock when you want more “hold” in the strings. The strings are .011–.058 (approx. 0,03–0,15 cm), and the 3rd string is .018 plain (approx. 0,05 cm), which provides a smooth, direct feel on the string where many players want clarity for bends and vibrato. If you tune lower than drop A, the lowest .058 may feel too soft on some guitars; in that case, a thicker low string can be a better solution. On certain guitar designs, the lowest string can also be limited by string length (e.g. depending on string-through, reverse headstock or hardware), so check your guitar’s requirements if you’ve previously experienced strings being too short on a 7-string.
