The Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom concept delivers a more stable feel on the low strings, so your low end won’t get “flabby”, even with modern high-gain.

The set is built in classic nickel wound construction: nickel-plated steel wrap wire over a hex core on the wound strings, combined with plain steel on the treble strings. The result is a bright, balanced tone with clear attack that cuts through the mix, and strings that feel direct and responsive under your fingers. The uncoated finish provides that familiar fresh, “snappy” feel – and the shiny metal look on both plain and wound strings.

This set is ideal for extended range/8-string guitars, lower tunings, and players who switch between tight rhythms and fluid lead playing (metal, prog, djent). Gauges range from 0.25 mm to 1.88 mm (.010–.074), and the thickest .074 (1.88 mm) in particular may require a minor guitar setup, such as nut/intonation adjustment, depending on your bridge, scale length and tuning. Note as well that the tension may feel intentionally “split” – very light on top and noticeably heavier on the bottom – which some prefer for modern playing, while others may want a more even tension.
