The string is built for the classic Slinky feel: the nickel-plated steel wrap gives it the smooth, familiar surface and a balanced attack, while the tin-plated hex steel core keeps intonation stable and the response tight. In the .055 gauge class it typically feels “firmer in the hand” than lighter alternatives, with extra oomph and more focus in the tone—especially when you play hard with fingers or a pick.

The gauge is .055" (1.40 mm), making it an obvious choice as a solid A string in many standard setups, or a deliberate option for more tension and tightness. It’s a long scale single string (standard/non-taper), and because thicker strings can take up more room in the nut, a gauge jump may require a small nut adjustment on some basses for optimal tuning stability and intonation.
