Ernie Ball P02818 Flatwound Slinky for short scale electric bass is made for players who want a warm, rounded bass sound without fighting excessive tension, inaccurate intonation or annoying finger noise. The short scale-optimised length delivers a more natural feel under your fingers on 30–30.5" basses, giving you a stable tone, accurate tuning and playability that invites long sessions – in the rehearsal room, on stage and in the studio.
The flatwound surface is flat, smooth and polished in a classic silver/metal look, so your fingers glide effortlessly and you get significantly less “zip” noise on position changes and slides. At the same time, the robust hex core provides a firm, stable response and durability you can rely on when you play hard or want a set that keeps its character for a long time. The result is the familiar flatwound experience: full lows, a controlled top end and a rounded, mellow sound that sits perfectly in the mix.
You get Regular Slinky gauges 45–105, which feel balanced and versatile on short scale and suit everything from pop and soul to rock and jazz. The set is compatible with short scale 76.2–77.5 cm, has a string length of 111.8 cm and a winding length of 82.6 cm, so it fits the instrument correctly and plays consistently all the way up the fingerboard.
