You might be familiar with it from nightclubs where the bouncer gives you an invisible stamp on your hand, and by shining a special light, he can see the stamp. Perhaps you've been to a party where when you enter the room, motifs that were otherwise invisible begin to glow in the dark. This is, of course, UV paint.

UV paint and UV effects have become extremely popular, especially at rave parties. UV paint helps create a super cool and different atmosphere, so in this post, let's take a closer look at what UV is and what it can do!

What is UV?

UV stands for ultraviolet. UV is a term for light that cannot be seen with the naked eye because the light has a lower frequency - also called nanometers - than "normal" visible light. UV light has its effect when it hits surfaces that become fluorescent when exposed to UV light, or as many call it: self-luminous.

There are countless products that have this self-luminous ability, ranging from paint to balloons, and the effect really helps bring your party decorations to life!

UV Events

There are plenty of opportunities to give various events a UV touch. In this section, we'll provide different ideas for various events that we've previously had success organizing or selling equipment for.

Rave Party

An absolute classic. Rave culture has its roots in the electronic music scene and is characterized by hard music, colorful clothing, and a love for partying. Although rave parties primarily have their roots in harder electronic music like trance and techno, rave parties have become increasingly popular among large parts of the population in recent years.

Rave parties are for everyone, and especially the colorful UV universe that characterizes the decorations and participants' attire, along with the carefree atmosphere, is appealing to many! Additionally, the harder part of electronic music has really gained ground in mainstream culture in recent years. Even DJs and producers who make extremely hard-hitting music have a place on the big festival stages worldwide!

So, get your rave playlist ready, get a bunch of UV party accessories, invite your friends, and throw an epic party; they'll love it!

UV at Nightclubs

In line with rave parties, UV effects aren't just cool for private events. If you own a nightclub or another type of venue, we can guarantee that UV light can help boost your events!

Several UV lamps can be controlled via DMX and can be connected directly to the club's existing lighting setup. Then, when you host your UV events, just decorate with UV-active decorations and paint, and hand out small tubes of UV face paint to your guests when they arrive, and you're good to go!

A fun way to host a different event that's sure to be a hit with guests!

High School and College UV Party

A high school or college party must, of course, have a theme. We all know the classics: masquerade balls, costume parties, etc. but why not kick it up a notch and serve up an insane UV party instead?

Transform the high school or college cafeteria into the craziest UV setting for the students who will absolutely accept the challenge and arrive in insanely creative outfits and body paint. It'll be the wildest night of the semester.

UV Lamps

UV Lamps

To even get the UV effects going or host a UV party, you'll need some UV light. There's a wide range of lamps designed specifically to create ultraviolet light.

Whether you need a UV lamp to hang on your lighting stand for your mobile disco or you want a light strip to illuminate a motif behind the bar, there are plenty of options available.

UV Flashlights

UV lamps are also made in flashlight format, which can be a super fun addition to the party. Hand out UV flashlights to your guests as they arrive, and they can then walk around and illuminate different motifs on clothes, walls, and anything else that's been painted with UV paint.

Additionally, UV flashlights are extremely popular among amber hunters who use them to go amber hunting at night, where amber chunks light up when struck by UV light. So if the party gets too dull, you can always go on a spontaneous amber hunt!

UV Paint

UV Paint

Although UV light itself can be cool enough, it becomes a bit dull without a lot of colors. Here, we need some of the special UV paint to create the perfect UV effect. There are incredibly many varieties, each with its own intended use.

UV Body and Face Paint

UV body paint and UV face paint are gentle paints designed for the face and body. The paint comes in many different colors and is perfect for creating various decorations, with yourself as the canvas.

The paint is easy to remove afterward with warm water and soap, so you'll be ready for Sunday brunch without neon colors all over your face. UV paint comes in a multitude of neon colors and can also be used as regular body and face paint without the use of UV lamps, albeit without the glowing effect!

UV Makeup

UV makeup is an extension of face painting. The only difference is that these products are specially developed for use on lips, eyelids, and similar areas. In essence, the makeup is the same product, but it comes in packaging that makes application easy.

UV makeup can be used for purposes other than UV parties. UV makeup has a vibrant neon color and can therefore also be used as a festive addition to other occasions, adding a bit of color even to grandma's 85th birthday party!

UV Fabric Paint

UV fabric paint is perfect for giving a boring white t-shirt new, colorful life. The paint is easy to apply, and after drying for about 24 hours, it's ready to be ironed on the reverse side and ready to go to the party.

UV fabric paint is also available as markers, making it extra easy to draw on all kinds of fabrics. It is easy to apply and can be ironed on the reverse side, so you're ready to take on any UV dance floor.

UV fabric paint does not wash off and can withstand washing at temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius. So, refrain from drawing on clothes you don't want to permanently become your UV party outfit.

Universal UV Paint

Universal UV paint can be used to paint on virtually any surface: walls, paper, wood, cardboard, etc., and can be used to decorate a room in neon colors, which, when UV light is directed at it, becomes fluorescent. It is a unique method to create extra depth in wall decorations.

UV paint is available both as regular paint applied with a brush or roller, but also as spray paint, which provides extra possibilities for unique effects in various forms of graffiti artwork.

UV Stamp Liquid

UV stamps are those you know from any night out. The invisible stamp you get on your hand when you enter a nightclub, so the bouncer can keep track of who is allowed in and who is not. UV stamps are completely invisible and only light up when exposed to UV light. A fun gimmick if you want to create nightclub atmosphere with "bouncers" for your event!

UV Decorations

UV balloons

We've talked a lot about paint. But there are also many other effects you can use to decorate for your UV party. UV decorations are a fun way to create a festive atmosphere for your party, where even the decorations react to the light.

UV Balloons

UV balloons are ordinary balloons with UV color mixed into the rubber. UV balloons are a fun and different way to add light to the party. They are suitable for use instead of traditional lamps, as they light up the room well when exposed to UV light.

Neon Tape

If tape is needed, it might as well be done elegantly. Here, neon tape comes to your aid. Neon tape comes in many different neon colors and reacts to UV light. The neon tape can even be written on with regular markers and is therefore also suitable for marking items such as flight cases, so you can always recognize your belongings among many others.

UV Plants

If there are flowers or plants for the party, why not make them light up along with all the other UV effects? UV plants light up when they are hit by the UV lamps and really help complete your UV party, making it something guests will remember for a long time.

Glow Sticks

In addition to UV paint and other UV equipment, there are also many other effects that can help set extra light on the party. One of the most classic is the glow stick. Glow sticks or glowsticks as they are also called, are plastic tubes with two liquids encapsulated inside, keeping them separate. When the encapsulation is cracked, and the liquids meet, a chemical reaction occurs, and the liquid starts to glow. Glow sticks are a really popular choice and can be found at many parties and events where they create a festive sea of light.
